400 A MCCB with 330 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-7HL32-0HH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity reaches 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — the steep drop at 690 V tells you this breaker is optimized for low-voltage main or feeder duty, not 690 V motor circuits. Rated continuous current holds at 400 A from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 385 A at 55 °C, 370 A at 60 °C, 355 A at 65 °C, 340 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot — say, 55 °C next to a transformer — plan for the 385 A ceiling.
Auxiliary configuration and integration
Factory-fitted with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ designation), and a shunt trip (STL) release. The shunt trip allows remote tripping via a control signal — useful for emergency-stop or interlock circuits. No undervoltage release fitted, no communication module on this variant. Dimensions: 248 mm tall, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. Mounts in standard panel cutouts for 3-pole SENTRON 3VA2 frames. The 110 mm depth fits most 200 mm deep enclosures with clearance for rear connections.
Lifecycle and sourcing
Maximum power loss is 96 W at rated load. Factor that into panel thermal calculations if mounting multiple breakers in a sealed enclosure.
