The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-7HN32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 400 A continuous current, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity reaches 330 kA at 240 VAC, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 7.5 kA at 690 V — covering fault levels from low-voltage service entrances up through medium-voltage transformer secondaries. This variant includes a shunt trip release (STL) for remote emergency-off or supervisory tripping, with no undervoltage release and no auxiliary switch fitted. The frame is sized for panel-mount integration; dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, and 110 mm deep.
Current rating and thermal derating
The breaker carries its full 400 A continuously from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient. Above that, the thermal curve steps down: 385 A at 55 °C, 370 A at 60 °C, 355 A at 65 °C, and 340 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs above 50 °C, size the upstream conductor and downstream bus for the derated value, not the nameplate 400 A. Maximum power loss at rated current is 96 W — enough to raise the temperature inside a sealed enclosure. Allow ventilation or a larger cabinet if grouping several breakers on the same subfeed.
Shunt trip and auxiliary options
The shunt trip release (STL) allows a remote signal — from an E-stop relay, fire alarm panel, or PLC digital output — to trip the breaker independently of the overcurrent protection. There is no undervoltage release on this variant, so a loss of control voltage will not drop the main contacts. No auxiliary switch is fitted, meaning no remote status feedback from the breaker mechanism itself; if position indication is needed, specify a variant with the auxiliary switch block.
