Siemens SENTRON 3VA2340-7JP32-0AA0 — 400 A MCCB with ETU550
The Siemens 3VA2340-7JP32-0AA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying 400 A continuously at 40 °C ambient across three poles. The ETU550 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves — common for feeder and main breaker duty in distribution panels. Breaking capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V and still holds 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. At 690 V the rating drops to 7.5 kA — still adequate for most 690 V motor branch circuits, but verify coordination with the upstream device if you're on a high-capacity 690 V bus. The breaker includes a communication function, letting it report status and trip events to a BMS or PLC over PROFIBUS or PROFINET.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Full 400 A rating holds up to 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 300 A at 70 °C. If your panel runs hot — say near a furnace line or in a Saudi substation — size the bus and enclosure ventilation for the derated figure, not the nameplate. Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint that drops into most SENTRON 3VA2 mounting plates and busbar systems. The front face carries IP40 protection (tools and fingers), but the rear and sides are open to the enclosure; keep the cabinet door closed during operation. Maximum power dissipation is 96 W at rated load.
