400 A continuous, flat across the thermal curve
The 3VA2440-5HL32-0AH0 is a Siemens SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous from 40 °C all the way up to 70 °C ambient — no derating needed in a warm panel. That flat thermal curve is unusual; most breakers in this class start pulling current back above 40 °C. The 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V gives serious fault-current headroom for high-capacity distribution, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 9 kA at 690 V. Line protection design, no undervoltage release, no ground-fault module fitted — this is a straight feeder or main breaker for a 3-phase panel.
Panel fit and aux switching
Footprint is 138 mm wide by 248 mm tall by 110 mm deep — a 3-pole frame that fits standard Siemens SENTRON mounting bases. No communication module, no auxiliary release fitted. Trip indicator is present, so you get a visual flag on fault.
