Its adjustable thermal-magnetic trip covers 600 A minimum to 4 800 A maximum, so you set the continuous current to match the feeder or bus rating — not a fixed value you have to swap out if the load changes. Interrupting capacity is voltage-dependent: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. At 240 V the 187 kA rating gives headroom for high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries; the 9 kA at 690 V still covers most industrial 690 V distribution without cascading upstream breakers. No derating curve to calculate for warm enclosures or summer conditions.
Panel integration
The 3VA2440 frame measures 110 mm deep, 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall — a standard MCCB footprint for 400 A class distribution panels. The 3-pole configuration with shunt trip occupies the same cutout as other SENTRON 3VA frames in the same amp class.
