What it is and what it does
The Siemens 3VA2440-5HN32-0DA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in industrial power distribution panels. Rated at 400 A continuously across the full ambient range from 40 °C to 70 °C — no derating needed up to that ceiling — and built on a 4800 A frame that handles the full interrupting duty. Breaking capacity hits 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415/440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V, so it clears high-fault scenarios across common industrial voltages without cascading upstream. Three-pole configuration with an integrated undervoltage release (UVR) — the UVR trips the breaker when control voltage drops, protecting motors and sensitive loads from brownout conditions.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, and 110 mm deep — fits standard MCCB mounting footprints in switchgear and panelboard cutouts. No auxiliary switch or ground-fault module fitted from factory; the UVR is the only internal accessory. If you need communication or shunt trip, that is added externally via the accessory slot. Maximum power dissipation is 66 W at rated load — plan for ventilation or spacing in dense enclosures.
