400 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2440-5HN32-0JH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 400 A continuous current. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — covering most industrial distribution voltages without needing a current-limiting upstream device. The ETU350 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection curves. The breaker includes a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and comes with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch HQ for remote status monitoring.
Thermal derating and panel fit
Rated continuous current holds at 400 A up to 50 °C ambient, then derates to 384 A at 55 °C, 376 A at 60 °C, 368 A at 65 °C, and 360 A at 70 °C. For a panel running at 55 °C ambient, expect 384 A continuous capability — factor that into busbar and cable sizing.
