400 A continuous, flat derating curve to 70 °C
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2440-6HN32-0BA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 400 A continuous across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to that ceiling. That means it holds its full 400 A in a warm panel without bumping frame size. Breaking capacity hits 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V, and still 121 kA at 500 V — high enough for most industrial main feeders and large motor branch circuits. At 690 V it drops to 9 kA, so check your system voltage against the curve before specifying.
Undervoltage release fitted, no auxiliary switch
This variant ships with an undervoltage release (UVR) — the auxiliary release type is undervoltage, per the design. That means it trips the breaker if control voltage drops below a threshold, useful for preventing automatic restart after a brownout. No auxiliary switch is included; if you need status feedback to a PLC, plan for a separate aux block. The footprint is 110 mm deep, 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall — a standard SENTRON 3VA fixed-panel mount. Three-pole construction, line protection design, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module. Power loss is rated at 66 W maximum.
Current lifecycle — active production
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. The 66 W max power loss means the breaker dissipates heat into the enclosure — factor that into your thermal budget if the panel is densely packed.
