What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA2440-6KP42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous at 40 °C through 70 °C — no derating needed across that ambient range. Four poles, line protection version, fitted with the ETU850 electronic trip unit. The interrupting ratings are substantial: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. That 242 kA at 240 V means it can safely clear a fault at the full available short-circuit current of a large industrial service entrance without the breaker failing or the arc propagating upstream.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 184 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 110 mm depth is the dimension that matters for enclosure depth clearance — standard 200 mm deep enclosures leave comfortable wiring space behind the breaker. Front face carries IP40 protection, adequate for a clean indoor panel environment. Communication function is onboard, so it can report status and trip events to a higher-level control system without an add-on module.
