What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA2440-7HL32-0AH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 400 A continuous current across the full 40 °C to 70 °C ambient range — no derating needed up to the maximum operating temperature. That makes it a straightforward choice for high-ambient panels, compressor rooms, or outdoor enclosures where other breakers would require a larger frame. Breaking capacity is the headline here: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415/440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. These are high-interrupting ratings for a 400 A frame — it handles fault currents that would vaporize a standard industrial MCCB, so it fits at the main or large feeder position where available fault current is high. The adjustable thermal-magnetic trip range spans 600 A to 4800 A (likely the instantaneous magnetic pickup range; the 400 A continuous frame sets the thermal element). That wide adjustment band lets you coordinate selectively with downstream breakers without swapping the entire unit.
Panel fit and wiring
Dimensions are 248 mm high × 138 mm wide × 110 mm deep. The 138 mm width (5.43 in) fits three-pole spacing on a DIN rail. Maximum power dissipation is 63.5 W. In a sealed enclosure, that heat needs to be factored into the thermal budget — at full load it's roughly the same as a small soldering iron running continuously inside the panel. Comes with 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ configuration). That's enough for remote status indication (open/closed/tripped) without adding external relays. No undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring on this variant — those are separate order options if your safety circuit requires them.
Lifecycle and sourcing posture
Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. The storage minimum is the more restrictive limit for warehousing — keep it above -40 °C and the molded case stays compliant.
