What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2440-7HL32-0BC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying a full 400 A from 40 °C through 70 °C without derating — that means it holds its current rating across the entire operating temperature range, so you don't lose headroom in a warm enclosure. Breaking capacity reaches 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V — the 690 V figure is the one to watch if you're feeding a 690 V drive bus; it's still adequate for most industrial distribution, but the part is clearly optimized for the 240–500 V range. Maximum short-circuit current the breaker can interrupt is 4800 A; minimum trip threshold is 600 A, with a 5 kA short-time rating limited to 1 second for selective coordination.
Panel fit and integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint for a 400 A frame, so it fits the usual DIN-rail or panel-mount cutout without surprises. Includes an undervoltage release (UVR) and two HQ auxiliary switches, wired for status feedback to a PLC or safety circuit. Max power loss is 66 W — plan for that heat in a sealed enclosure; it's not a high-loss frame, but it's not negligible either.
