400 A continuous, flat across the thermal range
The 3VA2440-7HL32-0CL0 is a Siemens SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous from 40 °C all the way up to 70 °C ambient — no derating curve to chase across the panel's hottest corner. That flat thermal profile simplifies the BOM line: one breaker covers the feeder regardless of where it lands in the enclosure. Interrupting capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V, dropping to 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 187 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. The 330 kA figure at 240 V means it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream — useful for main or large subfeed positions in industrial switchgear.
Panel fit and auxiliary configuration
Three-pole, 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall, 110 mm deep — standard MCCB footprint for a 400 A frame. The depth of 110 mm is the dimension to watch when clearing the gland plate or backpanel; the width of 138 mm sets the DIN-rail or mounting-plate pitch. Comes with an undervoltage release (UVR) and a built-in auxiliary switch set: 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ configuration). The trip indicator is present, so a quick visual scan confirms the breaker state without opening the door.
