MCCB for high-fault panel feeds
The Siemens 3VA2440-7HL32-0KL0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 400 A continuous at 40 °C through 70 °C with no derating across that span — the full 400 A holds at every point in the ambient range. That flat thermal curve simplifies panel sizing in warm enclosures. Three-pole construction, line-protection design, no integral ground-fault monitoring. The interrupting ratings are the deciding fit parameter: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. That 9 kA figure at 690 V is the constraint — if your system feeds a 690 V bus with available fault current above that, this breaker is not the right choice. Maximum continuous rating is 4800 A, minimum 600 A. The breaker ships with a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release and a complement of two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch and one electrical alarm switch. No undervoltage release, no communication module.
Mounting and integration
Footprint is 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall, 110 mm deep. The 138 mm width is the panel cutout dimension to plan for — standard for a 3-pole SENTRON 3VA frame at this rating. Maximum power loss is 63.5 W; account for that heat in the enclosure thermal calculation. Operating temperature range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C. The storage minimum is the handling limit, not the running limit. Trip indicator and voltage trigger are present on this variant.
