Motor protection breaker with ETU860M LSIG trip unit
The Siemens 3VA2440-7MQ32-0AB0 is a 3-pole circuit breaker on the IEC 60947-2 frame 630 platform, rated for motor protection with a class C breaking capacity of 110 kA at 415 V. The ETU860M electronic trip unit provides LSIG protection — long-time (overload), short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault — with a nominal rating of 400 A. Overload protection Ir is adjustable from 160 A to 400 A; short-circuit protection Isd spans 1.2 to 15 times In, and instantaneous Ii ranges 3 to 15 times In. Ground-fault protection Ig can be switched off or set from 0.2 to 1 times In with a time delay tg of 0.05 to 0.8 seconds. The breaker ships with a nut keeper kit and two auxiliary switches installed.
Integration notes for panel builders
The 3VA2 frame mounts on a DIN rail or panel-mount plate in a standard switchgear enclosure. The ETU860M trip unit draws its power from the line-side current transformers — no external control power required for the protection functions. The two auxiliary switches (1 NO + 1 NC each) are wired via the front-accessible terminals; verify the wiring diagram for the specific switch position (left/right) before commissioning. The nut keeper kit retains the busbar connection hardware, which is useful for high-vibration environments such as motor control centers near large drives.
