What the 500 A rating means for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2450-5JQ32-0AA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker rated for continuous current of 500 A at ambient temperatures up to 50 °C — no derating needed in a typical 40 °C panel. Above that, the thermal curve steps down: 477 A at 55 °C, 455 A at 60 °C, 432 A at 65 °C, 410 A at 70 °C. If your enclosure runs hot, that derating table is the real selection gate, not the nameplate 500 A. The interrupting capacity is what you'd specify for high-fault locations: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. The 6 kA limited-to-1-second rating tells you the short-time withstand for selectivity coordination downstream. Three-pole construction with an ETU560 electronic trip unit. The N-conductor protection is adjustable OFF or 20% to 160% — that's a commissioning step, not a factory default you can assume.
Rated insulation voltage 800 V.
