MCCB for high-current motor protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2450-5MN32-0CA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for 500 A continuous current, built around the ETU350M electronic trip unit for motor protection duty. It carries a 187 kA interrupting rating at 240 V, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — figures that define its fault-clearing capability at the panel's supply voltage. An integrated undervoltage release (UVR) is fitted as standard; the auxiliary release is the 3VA9608-0BB24 module.
Thermal derating and panel fit
The 500 A rating holds through 50 °C ambient; above that it derates linearly to 480 A at 70 °C — a factor to check if the breaker sits near other heat sources in a closed enclosure. Dimensions are 248 mm high x 138 mm wide x 110 mm deep, designed for panel mounting with busbar or cable connections.
Protection and compliance details
Phase failure detection is built in, and the ETU350M allows adjustable overload and short-circuit settings for motor starting profiles. Maximum power loss is 101.5 W; no auxiliary contacts or communication module are included on this variant. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range -40 °C to 80 °C.
