It holds its full 500 A rating from 40 °C up to 50 °C, then derates gradually to 480 A at 70 °C — so it's happy in a warm panel next to a drive or transformer without tripping early. It includes phase failure detection and an undervoltage release, so it's ready for a safety circuit that needs to drop the motor if control power disappears.
The 500 A continuous rating is the current it carries without tripping under normal load — sized for a large motor or a group of smaller motors fed from one breaker. The breaking capacity figures tell you the maximum fault current it can safely interrupt at each voltage level: 330 kA at 240 V is typical for a high-capacity service entrance, while 15.3 kA at 690 V is enough for downstream distribution in 690 V systems. The 3-pole design means it switches all three phases simultaneously, which is what you need for a three-phase motor circuit. The motor protection design means the trip curve is shaped to handle motor inrush without nuisance tripping, and the integrated phase failure detection catches a lost phase before it cooks the windings.
