What this MCCB delivers for a 500 A motor circuit
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2450-7MN32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) in the motor protection version, rated for a continuous current Iu of 500 A. That 500 A holds flat from 40 °C through 50 °C ambient — no derating needed in a warm panel — then drops to 495 A at 55 °C and 480 A at 70 °C, which gives you a clean thermal budget for a 500 A motor feeder in a ventilated enclosure. Breaking capacity hits 330 kA at 240 V AC and 242 kA at 415/440 V, with 52.5 kA at 690 V — high enough for most industrial fault-current scenarios without needing a current-limiting upstream device. The ETU350M electronic overcurrent release handles the protection curve, and phase failure detection is built in. This MCCB includes a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release for remote tripping, but no undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, and no auxiliary contacts on the basic unit. The supplied basic switch is order code 3VA2450-7MN32-0AA0; the integrated auxiliary trip is 3VA9688-0BL30.
Panel fit and mounting constraints
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size for 500 A. Front IP40 protection is sufficient for clean indoor panel environments. The 99 W maximum power loss at full load needs to be factored into the enclosure thermal calculation; expect noticeable heat rejection in a sealed cabinet.
