SENTRON 3VA2 MCCB for Motor Protection
The Siemens 3VA2450-7MN32-0KC0 is a SENTRON 3VA2-series molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed specifically for motor protection, carrying a continuous current rating of 500 A at 40 °C and derating to 480 A at 70 °C ambient. The 3-pole frame is built for selective coordination in motor control centers and distribution panels, with an interrupting capacity of 330 kA at 240 V AC and 242 kA at 415 V AC — the 690 V rating drops to 15.3 kA, so verify the available fault current at the point of installation. This variant ships with a shunt trip release (STL) and two auxiliary switches HQ, plus built-in phase failure detection — no separate undervoltage release is fitted. The 99 W maximum power loss at full load matters for enclosure thermal management; a panel with multiple breakers side-by-side needs ventilation or derating to stay within the 70 °C operating limit.
Integration & Mounting
The MCCB measures 248 mm high by 138 mm wide by 110 mm deep, fitting standard panel-mount cutouts for 3-pole SENTRON 3VA2 frames. The 6 kA limited-to-1-second rating is a short-time withstand figure for selective coordination downstream of a larger feeder — useful when setting the trip curve for motor starting inrush.
