What this MCCB is and what it does
The 3VA2450-7MQ32-0AA0: Rated 500 A at 40 °C, with full thermal derating provided up to 70 °C (432 A at 65 °C, 410 A at 70 °C), so the installer sizes the breaker for the actual enclosure ambient, not the nameplate. Breaking capacity runs from 330 kA at 240 V down to 15.3 kA at 690 V — the 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V covers the common European low-voltage distribution levels without a cascading upstream breaker. Adjustable overload pickup from 100 A to 500 A full-scale, with short-time delay settable between 3 s and 13 s, giving the commissioning engineer selectivity coordination headroom against downstream feeders.
Protection and communication functions
Built-in phase failure detection and ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation on the L-conductor. A separate measurement function is also present, so the breaker can report load data without an external transducer. Communication function is integrated — no external module required for basic data exchange with the plant control system. No undervoltage release or trip indicator on this variant; the trip signal is carried over the communication link rather than a local flag.
Physical fit and environmental limits
Dimensions 138 mm wide, 248 mm high, 110 mm deep — standard SENTRON 3VA footprint for a 500 A frame. Panel cutout and busbar spacing match the 3VA family; no adapter plate needed for a 3VA retrofit into an existing 3WL or 3VL panel. Operating temperature range -25 °C to 70 °C; storage from -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss 99 W — factor into the enclosure thermal budget.
