630 A MCCB with ETU320 — Line Protection in a 3-Pole Frame
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-4HL32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous current at 40 °C, with an ETU320 electronic overcurrent release designed for line protection. Its breaking capacity reaches 121 kA at 240 V and 75.6 kA at 415 V, covering most industrial service-entrance and feeder applications. The ETU320 release provides adjustable long-time, short-time, and instantaneous protection bands, letting the site electrical engineer coordinate selectivity downstream without changing the trip unit. Front-face protection class IP40 keeps the adjustment interface clean in panel environments.
Rated breaking capacity is voltage-dependent: 121 kA at 240 V, 75.6 kA at both 415 V and 440 V, 52.5 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. This spread means the breaker's SCCR headroom shrinks as system voltage rises — at 690 V the 9 kA rating limits its use to low-fault locations unless upstream current-limiting devices are applied. Continuous current derates with ambient temperature: 630 A at 40 °C, 612 A at 45 °C, 593 A at 50 °C, 575 A at 55 °C, 557 A at 60 °C, 538 A at 65 °C, and 520 A at 70 °C. A panel running at 50 °C ambient loses roughly 6 % of the breaker's rated capacity — factor that into the feeder sizing.
The 110 mm depth (4.33 in) fits typical distribution-board enclosures without requiring a deep-can extension. No undervoltage release or communication module is fitted on this variant; those are field-addable options if the application demands remote trip or status feedback.
