630 A MCCB with a wide interrupting range
The Siemens 3VA2463-5HL32-0KF0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity scales with system voltage: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V — so the same breaker can serve a 480 V plant bus or a 240 V subpanel without swapping frames, as long as the available fault current stays under the curve.
Trip band and thermal derating
The adjustable thermal-magnetic trip band spans 945 A to 5,670 A — that is 1.5× to 9× the 630 A frame. For a 400 A feeder you set the continuous pickup lower, but the breaker still clears a bolted fault at the full 121 kA at 415 V. Ambient derating is published per degree: 630 A at 40 °C drops to 520 A at 70 °C, which matches the maximum operating temperature of 70 °C. If the panel runs hot, size the load to the derated value, not the nameplate.
Built-in accessories and panel fit
This variant ships with a shunt trip (STL) for remote opening and one auxiliary switch plus one trip alarm switch (HQ configuration). No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module — it is a straight line-protection breaker with remote-trip capability. Dimensions are 110 mm deep, 138 mm wide, 248 mm high. Mounts in a standard SENTRON panel or enclosure; the 3-pole footprint matches the 3VA2 frame family, so a panel laid out for the 3VA1110 series will accept this physically, though the terminal lugs and busbar spacing should be verified for the 630 A rating.
