The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5HN32-0BA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V — that is the headline figure for fault-clearing capability on a low-voltage distribution bus. At 415 V it still holds 121 kA, and at 500 V it delivers 75.6 kA; at 690 V the rating drops to 9 kA, so for 690 V applications the breaker is suited only to lower-fault-current points in the network. The unit is designed for line protection, meaning it protects cables and busbars from overload and short-circuit, not motor or generator protection curves. An undervoltage release (UVR) is fitted as standard — the auxiliary release type is undervoltage release (UVR) — which automatically trips the breaker when supply voltage drops below a threshold, a common requirement for safety circuits and emergency-stop chains in industrial panels. No auxiliary switch is included; if you need remote status indication, that is a separate add-on. The breaker ships with the basic switch variant 3VA2463-5HN32-0AA0 as the supplied basic switch, so the order code already includes the switching mechanism; the UVR is integrated at the factory.
Derating and thermal management
Continuous current rating is 630 A at 40 °C ambient. The breaker derates linearly as cabinet temperature rises: 612 A at 45 °C, 593 A at 50 °C, 575 A at 55 °C, 557 A at 60 °C, 538 A at 65 °C, and 520 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 40 °C, use the derated value for the load — the 520 A floor at 70 °C is still a usable figure for a 500 A bus, but the 164.5 W maximum power loss must be ventilated out of the enclosure. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C. The storage maximum is 10 °C above the operating maximum — that extra margin covers shipping and warehousing, not running conditions.
Panel fit and dimensions
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 138 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this current class — fits the same cutout as other SENTRON 3VA breakers in the 630 A frame. Depth of 110 mm leaves clearance for rear-mounted busbars and cable lugs in a standard distribution panel.
