What it is and what it does
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5HN32-0HA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection in distribution panels. It carries 630 A continuous at 40 °C and interrupts faults up to 121 kA at 415 V, which means it can clear high-energy short circuits on a 400 V industrial bus without the arc flashing over to adjacent gear. The breaker includes a shunt trip release (STL) for remote emergency-off or undervoltage tripping.
Breaking capacity across voltage levels
The interrupting rating drops with system voltage as expected: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. For a 400 V panel with a transformer-fed bus, the 121 kA figure gives selectivity headroom against upstream fuses or a larger-frame MCCB.
Thermal derating and power loss
The 630 A rating is at 40 °C ambient. Per the datasheet, it derates to 612 A at 45 °C, 593 A at 50 °C, 575 A at 55 °C, 557 A at 60 °C, 538 A at 65 °C, and 520 A at 70 °C (–). Maximum power loss is 162 W, which matters for enclosure heat-load calculations — a panel with several of these breakers needs forced ventilation or a larger cabinet.
Physical fit and mounting
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 138 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for this frame size — it occupies three 45 mm module positions on a DIN rail or bolts directly to a mounting plate. Verify the gland-plate cutout and bus-bar spacing against your panel layout before ordering.
