The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5HN42-0AA0 is a 4-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous at 40 °C, built around the ETU350 electronic trip unit. It's designed for line protection — meaning it sits at the incoming feeder or main distribution point, not downstream on a motor or branch circuit. The ETU350 gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection curves, so you can coordinate selectivity with downstream breakers without guessing.
Interrupting ratings — what they mean for your fault duty
This breaker clears 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. Those are the maximum fault currents it can safely interrupt at each voltage level without welding contacts or venting plasma into the enclosure. If your available fault current at the service entrance exceeds those numbers, you need a current-limiting fuse upstream or a higher-rated frame. The 9 kA at 690 V is the weak point — verify your 690 V system's prospective short-circuit current before committing this part.
Thermal derating — don't size by the 40 °C number alone
The 630 A rating holds at 40 °C ambient inside the enclosure. At 50 °C it drops to 593 A; at 60 °C, 557 A; at 70 °C, 520 A. If your panel runs hot — and most enclosed switchboards do — size the breaker for the actual ambient, not the catalog maximum. The ETU350's thermal memory also accounts for pre-load heating before a fault, so nuisance tripping on a warm restart is less likely than with a thermal-magnetic trip.
Panel fit and environment
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 184 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The front face carries an IP40 rating.
