The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5JP32-0AH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous current at 40 °C, with an ETU550 electronic trip unit. The breaking capacity tells you the fault current it can safely interrupt: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V. These are the numbers that govern whether this breaker holds under a short-circuit condition at your service voltage — if your available fault current exceeds the rating at your voltage, you need a different frame or upstream current-limiting device. That means you can coordinate this breaker downstream of a main or upstream of branch feeders without guessing — the trip curve is programmable, not fixed like a thermal-magnetic unit. The breaker also includes a communication function, so it can report status and trip events to a monitoring system. That depth includes the case body — check clearance for the rear terminals and any accessory modules (auxiliary switches or shunt trip) that add projection.

What's inside — the ETU550 trip unit
The ETU550 is the electronic brain of this breaker. It provides adjustable protection parameters via a local interface or remotely through the communication module. No undervoltage release or shunt trip is included from the factory, but those can be added as field-installable accessories if your safety circuit requires a UVR to drop the breaker on power loss. The trip indicator gives a visual flag after a fault trip — helps a technician identify which breaker opened without needing to interrogate the trip unit. Temperature derating is already factored into the continuous current ratings: 630 A at 40 °C, stepping down to 450 A at 70 °C.
