Rated current and thermal derating
The Siemens 3VA2463-5JP32-0HA0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous current at 40 °C ambient. That 630 A figure is the thermal benchmark; above 40 °C, the breaker derates linearly — 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, 540 A at 55 °C, 510 A at 60 °C, 480 A at 65 °C, and 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, size the load to the derated value, not the nameplate 630 A.
Breaking capacity across voltage levels
This 3-pole MCCB delivers 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC, 121 kA at both 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. The 187 kA at 240 V means it can clear high-fault currents at the service entrance or downstream of a large transformer without cascading failure. At 690 V the IC drops to 9 kA — verify the available fault current at that voltage before committing the BOM line.
Physical fit and auxiliary release
Dimensions: 248 mm height, 138 mm width, 110 mm depth. The 110 mm depth is the dimension that matters for enclosure clearance — measure the back-of-panel to door clearance against that figure, not the height. Fitted with a shunt trip release (STL) as the auxiliary release; no undervoltage release, no auxiliary switch, no ground-fault monitoring. Communication function is present on this variant, so it supports integration into a SENTRON power monitoring system.
