What this breaker carries — and what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens 3VA2463-5JP42-0KD0 is a 4-pole IEC frame 630 molded-case circuit breaker with a 55 kA interrupting capacity at 415 V AC (breaking capacity class M). That Icu rating means it can safely clear a bolted fault up to 55 kA without welding its contacts or rupturing the arc chamber — critical for main or tie breakers in high-fault panels where the available short-circuit current exceeds 25 kA. The ETU550 electronic trip unit provides LSI protection: long-time (Ir) adjustable from 250 A to 630 A for overload, short-time (Isd) from 0.6 to 9× In for selective coordination, and instantaneous (Ii) from 1.5 to 9× In for fast clearing of hard faults. Neutral conductor protection is adjustable from OFF up to 100% of phase protection, which lets you match the breaker to a fully rated or reduced neutral bus.
Integrated accessories — shunt trip and auxiliary switches
This order code ships with a left-mounted shunt trip rated 208–277 V AC 50/60 Hz and 220–250 V DC, plus three auxiliary switches. The shunt trip allows remote tripping from an E-stop, fire-alarm relay, or PLC digital output — common on main breakers feeding a machine cell. Three aux switches give you status feedback (open/closed/tripped) for the BMS or safety PLC without adding external interposing relays. The nut keeper kit is factory-fitted, so the breaker lands on the bus bars without loose hardware falling into the enclosure.
