MCCB for line protection with communication
Its 3-pole frame carries a full-scale value of 630 A and an initial pickup of 126 A — the thermal-magnetic trip is set at the factory but field-adjustable within that window. A built-in communication function allows integration into a higher-level energy management system without an external adapter.
This MCCB delivers 187 kA at 240 V AC, dropping to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. The steep fall-off above 500 V is typical for a 630 A frame — the internal arc chamber is optimized for the lower-voltage, high-current faults common in North American 480Y/277 V and European 400 V distribution.
Thermal derating curve
Rated 630 A at 40 °C ambient, the breaker derates linearly: 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, 540 A at 55 °C, 510 A at 60 °C, 480 A at 65 °C, and 450 A at 70 °C. The maximum power loss is 162 W, which contributes to the enclosure's thermal budget.
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard 3-pole MCCB footprint for a 630 A frame. The breaker mounts via four screws to a backplate or DIN-rail adapter (not included). The depth of 110 mm leaves room behind a 200 mm deep enclosure door for wiring and auxiliary wiring.
