630 A MCCB with ETU850 — what the ratings mean for your panel
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5KP32-0BA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 630 A at 40 °C. The ETU850 electronic trip unit provides adjustable overload and short-circuit protection, with communication capability for integration into a higher-level control system. The interrupting ratings are substantial: 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — these are the fault currents the breaker can safely clear without upstream cascading. For a 630 A frame, the 187 kA at 240 V is high enough for most secondary-side distribution; the 121 kA at 415 V covers heavy industrial mains. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) confirms suitability for 690 V line-to-line systems. Thermal derating is built into the spec: 630 A at 40 °C drops to 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, 540 A at 55 °C, 510 A at 60 °C, 480 A at 65 °C, and 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 40 °C, size the load accordingly. The operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. Maximum power loss is 164.5 W — factor that into enclosure ventilation. The breaker includes an undervoltage release (UVR) as the auxiliary release type, and the integrated auxiliary trip is order code 3VA9608-0BB11. There is no auxiliary contact version, no ground fault monitoring, no phase failure detection, and no voltage trigger. The latching endurance is rated at 15 000 operations. The supplied basic switch is 3VA2463-5KP32-0AA0.
