What the ratings mean for fit
The Siemens 3VA2463-5KP32-0HH0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection, rated 630 A continuous at 40 °C and 187 kA interrupting at 240 V — that SCCR handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream. At 415 V it still breaks 121 kA, so it fits main breaker positions in 400 V distribution panels where fault current runs high. The 110 mm depth and 138 mm width keep it within a standard MCCB footprint for retrofit into existing SENTRON or third-party cubicles.
Derating and thermal budget
Current rating drops from 630 A at 40 °C to 450 A at 70 °C, so a panel builder must account for ambient temperature inside the enclosure — derate per the curve if the switchgear is in a hot machine bay or outdoor cabinet. Maximum power loss is 162 W, which adds to the enclosure's heat load; factor that into the ventilation or cooling calculation.
Integration and wiring
Three-pole design with a shunt trip release (STL) and an ETU850 electronic overcurrent release. Auxiliary contacts include two auxiliary switches plus one trip alarm switch (HQ version). Communication function is built in, so it can report status to a higher-level controller or BMS. The trip indicator and voltage trigger are present for fault diagnostics. No undervoltage release or phase failure detection on this variant.
