630 A MCCB with 187 kA interrupting capacity
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-5KP32-0JA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection, carrying a continuous current of 630 A at 40 °C and delivering a short-circuit breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V. That interrupting rating drops to 121 kA at 415 V and 440 V, then to 75.6 kA at 500 V, and 17 kA at 690 V — so the SCCR headroom is highest on 240 V secondary side of a distribution transformer, but still substantial on 400 V class systems. The ETU850 electronic trip unit handles the overcurrent release, and a shunt trip (STL) auxiliary release is built in for remote tripping. Communication function is present, which means this breaker can report status and accept commands over a bus — useful for a monitored distribution panel where you need to know the breaker state without walking the line.
Thermal derating and enclosure fit
The 630 A rating is at 40 °C ambient. At 45 °C it derates to 600 A, at 50 °C to 570 A, at 55 °C to 540 A, at 60 °C to 510 A, at 65 °C to 480 A, and at 70 °C to 450 A. If your panel runs hot — say a packed enclosure near a furnace line — plan the load accordingly. The breaker dissipates up to 162 W at full rated current, so ventilation or a larger enclosure may be needed to stay below the 70 °C operating maximum. Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep — a standard SENTRON 3VA frame size that fits the common DIN-rail or panel-mount footprint for this class. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C.
