What it is and what it carries
The Siemens 3VA2463-6HN32-0AG0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) designed for line protection in distribution panels. It's a 3-pole unit rated 630 A continuous at 40 °C, with a maximum interrupting capacity of 242 kA at 240 V AC and 187 kA at 415 V AC — that's the short-circuit current it can safely clear without welding contacts or rupturing the case. At 690 V the interrupting rating drops to 9 kA, so if your service voltage sits up there, verify the available fault current stays under that ceiling. Thermal derating is built into the spec: at 45 °C it's 612 A, at 50 °C it's 593 A, stepping down to 520 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot, size the breaker against the derated value, not the 40 °C headline. Maximum power loss is 162 W — that's heat that has to leave the enclosure, so factor it into your thermal budget.
Physical fit and integration
Dimensions are 110 mm deep, 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall. That's a standard MCCB footprint for this frame class — mounts in a distribution panel on a mounting plate or DIN rail adapter (not included). The breaker ships with a basic switch (order code 3VA2463-6HN32-0AA0) and includes one auxiliary switch plus one trip alarm switch as standard. No undervoltage release, no ground-fault monitoring, no communication module on this variant — it's a plain line-protection breaker. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to 70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to 80 °C. The trip indicator is present, so you get a visual flag after a fault event without needing to open the cover.
