What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-6JP32-0AC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current Iu of 630 A at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 242 kA at 240 V AC. That interrupting rating drops to 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 40 kA at 690 V — so the available fault current at the installation point decides the fit, not the headline number. The ETU550 electronic trip unit handles the overcurrent protection curve, and the breaker ships with two auxiliary switches (HQ type) for status feedback to a PLC or panel indicator.
Thermal derating and panel space
The 630 A rating holds at 40 °C ambient. Above that, derate linearly: 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, 540 A at 55 °C, 510 A at 60 °C, 480 A at 65 °C, and 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs above 40 °C, size the breaker for the derated current — not the nameplate. The case footprint is 138 mm wide by 248 mm tall by 110 mm deep, so it fits a standard MCCB slot in a SENTRON distribution panel or a custom enclosure with that cutout. Front IP40 protection means it's fine in a clean indoor panel; keep it out of washdown zones.
Trip unit and auxiliary contacts
The ETU550 is an electronic trip unit with adjustable overload and short-circuit settings — not a fixed thermal-magnetic. It draws power from the breaker's own current path, so no external control power is needed for the trip function. The two HQ auxiliary switches provide normally-open/normally-closed contact status for remote monitoring. No undervoltage release or shunt trip is fitted on this variant (the order code ends in 0AC0, which omits those). Maximum power loss at rated current is 162 W — account for that heat in the enclosure ventilation calculation.
