That rating means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to 85 kA without welding its contacts or rupturing the arc chamber, which is the figure that governs SCCR headroom for the downstream panel. The ETU550 trip unit provides LSI protection: long-time (Ir adjustable 250 A to 630 A), short-time (Isd 0.6 to 9× In), and instantaneous (Ii 1.5 to 9× In). This selectivity profile suits it for main or tie breaker duty in a distribution board where you need to coordinate with downstream feeders.
What ships in the carton
The breaker ships with two auxiliary switch changeover contacts (H type) and one trip alarm switch changeover contact already fitted. That means the kit is complete for signaling breaker status and trip events back to a PLC or annunciator panel — no separate accessory order needed for basic remote indication. The neutral conductor protection option requires an external current transformer, which is not in the box.
