630 A MCCB with voltage-graded interrupting ratings
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-6JQ32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for a continuous current of 630 A at 40 °C, designed for line protection in distribution panels. Its interrupting capacity scales with system voltage: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V — the 690 V figure is the one to watch if you're feeding a 600 V class motor drive center, because that's where the fault current capability drops sharply.
Temperature derating and power loss
The 630 A rating holds at 40 °C ambient. Above that, the breaker derates linearly: 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, 540 A at 55 °C, 510 A at 60 °C, 480 A at 65 °C, and 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs 50 °C, you lose 60 A of headroom — size the upstream feeder accordingly. Maximum power loss is 162 W at rated load, which factors into enclosure heat dissipation calculations.
Physical fit and integration
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. 138 mm width fits standard 3-pole MCCB footprint.
Ground-fault and communication capability
Ground-fault monitoring via summation current formation on line conductor. Communication function included. No undervoltage release, voltage trigger, or trip indicator.
