What this MCCB carries — and what it means for the line
The Siemens 3VA2463-6JQ32-0KA0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous current (Iu) with an ETU560 electronic trip unit. That trip unit gives you adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection — not a fixed thermal-magnetic curve. For a body-shop weld line where fault current can spike fast, the ETU560 lets you coordinate selectivity downstream without nuisance tripping that kills takt time. Breaking capacity is 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and still 40 kA at 690 V. That covers most industrial distribution panels feeding motor control centers or large drives. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) gives headroom for 690 V systems. Current derating is published across the operating temperature range: 630 A at 40 °C, stepping down to 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hot — say near a furnace line or enclosed switchroom — the 55 °C figure of 540 A is the one to size against, not the 40 °C headline.
Integration — what fits inside the can
Dimensions: 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. That 138 mm width is standard for a 3-pole SENTRON frame in this rating class — it drops into existing panel layouts without re-drilling the backplate. The breaker ships with a shunt trip (STL) release as the auxiliary release design, and a ground-fault monitoring version configured for summation current formation on the L-conductor. The integrated auxiliary trip is order code 3VA9688-0BL33. No auxiliary contact block is included — order separately if you need status feedback to a PLC. Communication function is present on this variant, which means it can talk to a higher-level system for power monitoring or remote trip indication. No undervoltage release, no phase-failure detection, no trip indicator flag on the front.
