630 A MCCB with the breaking capacity to match
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-6KP32-0DH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 630 A at 40 °C, sized for main feeder or heavy-load distribution in industrial switchboards. Its interrupting capacity reaches 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds without cascading upstream — the SCCR headroom is built in, not bolted on. The breaker carries a full thermal derating curve: 630 A at 40 °C, stepping down to 450 A at 70 °C. If the panel ambient runs hot — say, a non-ventilated enclosure near a furnace line — size the load to the 70 °C figure, not the nameplate 630 A. Power loss is 164.5 W maximum at rated load. That matters for enclosure thermal calculations: a 630 A frame dumping 164.5 W needs ventilation or a larger cabinet to stay below the 70 °C operating ceiling.
Fit and integration
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 138 mm width is standard for a 3-pole 630 A frame. The auxiliary switch configuration is 2 auxiliary switches plus 1 trip alarm switch (HQ type), and an undervoltage release (UVR) is included. The UVR drops the breaker when control voltage falls below the dropout threshold — standard for emergency-stop or undervoltage protection schemes. The trip alarm switch signals a fault condition separately from the aux position, which simplifies PLC-based fault logging.
