What this MCCB carries and where it fits
The Siemens 3VA2463-6KP32-0JL0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous at 40 °C, with a line protection profile and the ETU850 electronic trip unit onboard. It breaks 242 kA at 240 V and 187 kA at 415 V, so it handles high-fault utility feeds or transformer secondaries without cascading upstream — that's the number that decides whether your main breaker holds or the whole switchgear sees the arc flash. The 800 V rated insulation voltage (Ui) covers 480 V and 600 V class panels with headroom.
Thermal derating and real-world current
The 630 A at 40 °C is the base number, but if your panel runs hot — and most do — the derating curve is what matters for coordination studies. At 50 °C it carries 570 A; at 60 °C, 510 A; at 70 °C, 450 A. That's a 180 A drop from the base rating, so size the upstream transformer and bus bars for the derated value, not the label. The maximum power loss of 162 W at full load means the enclosure needs ventilation or forced air if it's in a sealed cabinet with other heat sources.
Trip unit and auxiliary wiring
The ETU850 electronic trip unit provides LSI protection curves and a communication function for remote monitoring or power metering. The auxiliary contact block ships as 2 auxiliary switches + 1 trip alarm switch + 1 electrical alarm switch (HQ type). A shunt trip (STL) release is built in.
