What the ratings mean for your panel
The 3VA2463-6KP42-0AA0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 630 A at 40 °C, with a 4-pole frame and an ETU850 electronic trip unit. That 630 A is the continuous current at 40 °C ambient — above that, the breaker derates linearly: 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, down to 450 A at 70 °C. If your panel ambient runs hotter than 40 °C, size the breaker for the derated value, not the nameplate. The interrupting ratings span the voltage range you'd expect in a distribution board: 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 121 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. At 415 V — common in European industrial mains — the 187 kA SCCR gives you headroom for high-fault installations without cascading upstream breakers. Rated insulation voltage is 800 V, so the breaker is suitable for 690 V line-to-line systems with margin. The ETU850 release offers adjustable N-conductor protection from OFF to 100% in 20% steps, plus a communication function for remote monitoring — useful if you're integrating into a BMS or SCADA system.
Panel integration notes
The breaker measures 184 mm wide, 248 mm high, and 110 mm deep — a 4-pole frame that fits standard MCCB mounting patterns in switchboards and distribution panels. Front IP40 protection means it's fine for indoor enclosures; no special sealing needed for dust or splash. Maximum power loss is 162 W at rated load — account for that heat in your enclosure thermal calculation, especially if you're grouping multiple breakers in a compact assembly.
