630 A MCCB with 330 kA interrupting capacity — the selectivity anchor
The Siemens 3VA2463-7HL32-0AB0 is a 3-pole SENTRON molded case circuit breaker rated 630 A continuous at 40 °C, carrying 330 kA breaking capacity at 240 V AC — enough to sit as the main feeder breaker in a large distribution panel without worrying about upstream fault current. At 415 V and 440 V it still interrupts 242 kA; at 690 V it holds 52.5 kA. The auxiliary contact version is 2 auxiliary switches HP, enough to signal the breaker position back to a PLC or status lamp without an add-on module.
The 630 A rating holds only at 40 °C. At 50 °C it derates to 593 A; at 60 °C to 557 A; at 70 °C to 520 A. Maximum power loss is 162 W, which contributes to the enclosure's thermal budget.
Dimensions are 110 mm deep, 138 mm wide, 248 mm tall. The ETU320 is powered by integral current transformers; no external control power needed for the trip unit.
