Rated for a 630 A feeder, 330 kA interrupting at 240 V
The Siemens 3VA2463-7HL32-0AF0 is a SENTRON molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) for line protection, rated 630 A continuous at 40 °C and delivering a 330 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V AC. The 3-pole construction suits three-phase feeders, and the 630 A frame covers large motor control centers, large HVAC, or distribution to subpanels.
Derating curve and thermal management
Continuous current derates with ambient temperature: 612 A at 45 °C, 593 A at 50 °C, 575 A at 55 °C, 557 A at 60 °C, 538 A at 65 °C, and 520 A at 70 °C (–). Maximum power loss is 162 W, which contributes to enclosure heat load; account for that in thermal calculations, especially in sealed or high-density cabinets.
Interrupting capacity varies sharply with system voltage: 330 kA at 240 V, 242 kA at 415 V and 440 V, 187 kA at 500 V, and 9 kA at 690 V. The steep drop at 690 V (9 kA) means this breaker is not intended for 690 V main feeders — it is optimized for 240–500 V distribution. The minimum short-circuit current it can sense and trip on is 945 A, with a maximum of 5 670 A.
Dimensions: 248 mm height, 138 mm width, 110 mm depth. The 110 mm depth fits standard MCCB cubicle depths — no deep enclosure required. The 138 mm width (3-pole) matches typical SENTRON 3VA2 panel cutouts. It ships with a 1 auxiliary switch + 1 trip alarm switch HQ for remote status indication.
