630 A MCCB with high interrupting capacity
The SENTRON 3VA2463-7HN32-0KH0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 630 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a maximum breaking capacity of 330 kA at 240 V AC. That 330 kA rating means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without upstream damage — a key spec for high-fault panels near utility transformers or large motor banks. At 415 V the interrupting rating is 242 kA, and at 690 V it drops to 9 kA, so the voltage class of your distribution system governs the actual SCCR you can rely on. The breaker is designed for line protection (not motor or feeder protection out of the box), and it carries a shunt trip release (STL) plus two auxiliary switches and one trip alarm switch (HQ). The shunt trip allows remote tripping from a PLC or emergency-stop circuit — useful for safety interlocks or remote shutdown scenarios. The trip indicator and voltage trigger are present, but there is no undervoltage release or ground-fault monitoring built in.
Current derating across temperature
The continuous current rating is temperature-dependent. At 40 °C it carries the full 630 A; at 50 °C it derates to 593 A; at 60 °C to 557 A; and at 70 °C to 520 A. If your panel ambient runs hot — say near a drive cabinet or in a non-climate-controlled enclosure — use the 50 °C or 60 °C row for sizing, not the 40 °C headline. The maximum power loss is 162 W, which matters for enclosure thermal management.
Physical footprint and panel fit
Dimensions are 248 mm high, 138 mm wide, 110 mm deep. The 110 mm depth is the front-to-back panel depth needed behind the door — check your enclosure depth before committing. The 138 mm width is the standard 3-pole MCCB footprint; it mounts via the supplied basic switch (order code 3VA2463-7HN32-0AA0) and fits SENTRON mounting accessories. Operating temperature range is -25 °C to +70 °C; storage range is -40 °C to +80 °C.
