The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2463-8JP32-0AA0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker (MCCB) rated for line protection, carrying 630 A continuous at 40 °C with an ETU550 electronic trip unit.
Breaking capacity and selectivity
Interrupting ratings climb to 440 kA at 240 V, 330 kA at 415 V, and 220 kA at 500 V — numbers that give you serious fault-current headroom for a 480 V or 400 V industrial service. At 690 V it still holds 52.5 kA, which covers most motor-control centers. The ETU550 trip unit supports adjustable long-time, short-time, instantaneous, and ground-fault protection, so you can shape the curve to coordinate with downstream breakers. That selectivity matters when a fault on a branch shouldn't black out the whole line.
Sizing and thermal derating
The 630 A rating is at 40 °C ambient. If the panel runs hotter — and a packed enclosure with a 630 A breaker usually does — you need to derate: 600 A at 45 °C, 570 A at 50 °C, all the way down to 450 A at 70 °C. The maximum operating temperature is 70 °C, and storage range is -40 to 80 °C. Mounting footprint is 248 mm tall by 138 mm wide by 110 mm deep, so it fits a standard MCCB slot in a SENTRON distribution panel or a separate enclosure. Power loss at full load is 162 W — account for that heat in your enclosure sizing.
