What this MCCB delivers
The Siemens 3VA2510-5HN32-0KB0 is a SENTRON 3VA2 molded case circuit breaker rated for line protection — 3-pole, 1000 A continuous current (Iu) with an ETU350 electronic trip unit. The interrupting capacity climbs to 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and still holds 53 kA at 690 V, which covers most industrial distribution panels and motor control centers without needing a current-limiting fuse upstream. The ETU350 release gives you adjustable long-time (tr) from 0.5 to 17 s and short-time (tsd) from 0.04 to 0.4 s, plus an instantaneous pickup fixed at 10 000 A. That range lets you coordinate selectively with downstream breakers — the short-time delay keeps the main from tripping on a branch fault, which is the difference between a localized outage and a whole-panel blackout.
Continuous current and thermal derating
The breaker carries its full 1 000 A continuously up to 55 °C ambient. At 60 °C it derates to 955 A, at 65 °C to 885 A, and at 70 °C to 815 A. If your panel runs hot — say a non-ventilated enclosure near a furnace line — that derating curve tells you exactly where you lose headroom. The maximum operating temperature is 70 °C; storage range is -40 to 80 °C. Power loss at full load is 123 W. That's not trivial in a sealed enclosure — factor it into your thermal budget if you're grouping several breakers on a bus.
Physical fit and mounting
Dimensions are 320 mm high, 210 mm wide, 120 mm deep. The 210 mm width is a standard 8.3-inch footprint for this frame size — it bolts into a panel cutout designed for SENTRON 3VA2 breakers, no adapter plate needed. Front IP40 rating means it's protected against tools and wires but not washdown; keep it inside a clean enclosure.
