MCCB for high-current line protection
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2510-6HN32-0AC0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current Iu of 1 000 A, fitted with an ETU350 electronic trip unit for line protection duty. It carries interrupting ratings of 242 kA at 240 V, 187 kA at 415 V, and 74 kA at 690 V — figures that define its fault-clearing capability at each voltage level, not just the highest number. The trip unit offers adjustable long-time pickup Ir up to 1 000 A, instantaneous pickup Ii up to 10 000 A, and short-time delay tsd from 0.04 s to 0.4 s, giving the specifying engineer control over coordination with downstream devices.
The breaker carries its full 1 000 A continuously from 40 °C up to 55 °C ambient; at 60 °C it derates to 955 A, at 65 °C to 885 A, and at 70 °C to 815 A. That means a panel designer who expects a 40 °C internal ambient can size the bus and enclosure for the full rating, while a high-temp installation (e.g., near a furnace line) must account for the drop. Physical dimensions are 210 mm wide, 320 mm high, and 120 mm deep — a standard footprint for this frame class, mountable on a backplate or in a switchboard enclosure. IP40 on the front face keeps out tools and fingers but is not rated for washdown; keep it indoors or behind a sealed door.
