800 A MCCB with ETU320 — interrupting ratings and thermal derating
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2580-5HL32-0AG0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 800 A continuous current at 40 °C, with an ETU320 electronic trip unit. Its interrupting capacity reaches 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 53 kA at 690 V — figures that cover most low-voltage distribution fault levels without cascading upstream. The 800 A rating holds flat through 60 °C; at 65 °C it derates to 767 A, and at 70 °C to 703 A, so panel ambient above 60 °C needs a one-frame-up check.
ETU320 trip unit — adjustable protection bands
The ETU320 release gives adjustable long-time pickup (Ir) from 320 A to 800 A, and instantaneous pickup (Ii) from 1,200 A to 8,000 A. Long-time delay (tr) is adjustable between 0.5 and 17 seconds. That range covers feeder and main protection for most 480 V and 690 V distribution panels without needing a separate relay.
Front face carries IP40 protection; the enclosure is designed for panel-mount installation with line and load connections accessible from the front.
