The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2580-5HN32-0JL0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for a continuous current of 800 A at 40 °C through 60 °C, derating to 767 A at 65 °C and 703 A at 70 °C. That thermal stability means it holds full rating across typical panel ambient conditions without an early derate — useful when the enclosure runs warm from adjacent drives or transformers. Breaking capacity is 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 53 kA at 690 V. The 690 V rating also makes it viable for 600 V class Canadian or mining installations without a series-rated compromise. The electronic trip unit is an ETU350, adjustable: Ir from 0.5× to 1× In (400–800 A), tr from 0.5 to 17 seconds, and short-time pickup Isd from 1.5× to 10× In with adjustable delay tsd from 0.04 to 0.4 seconds. Instantaneous pickup Ii is adjustable from 1.5× to 10× In (1200–8000 A). That range lets you coordinate selectively downstream without forcing a larger frame upstream.
Panel fit and physical integration
Dimensions: 320 mm height, 210 mm width, 120 mm depth. Width of 210 mm fits a 3-pole MCCB cutout in most switchboard chassis; verify the mounting hole pattern against your existing backplate. Maximum power loss is 135 W at full load. That heat must be considered in the enclosure thermal calculation — especially if the MCCB shares a compartment with other heat-generating devices.
The ETU350 release supports both I²t on (inverse-time) and I²t off (definite-time) short-delay modes, which is the key to achieving Type 2 coordination with downstream MCCBs or fused switches. If you need those, the 3VA2 platform offers plug-in modules and communication-capable trip units — but this order code is the base line-protection build.
