MCCB for high-fault main feeders
The Siemens SENTRON 3VA2580-5KQ32-0AD0 is a 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 800 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a 187 kA interrupting capacity at 240 V — enough to sit at the main disconnect on a large industrial switchboard where fault currents are high. The ETU860 electronic trip unit gives you adjustable long-time (tr 0.5–25 s), short-time (tsd 0.05–0.5 s), and instantaneous pickup, plus ground-fault summation sensing on the line conductors. That level of coordination flexibility is what you need for selective tripping downstream of a transformer or generator.
Breaking capacity and thermal derating
This breaker carries a 121 kA interrupting rating at 415 V and 53 kA at 690 V, so it handles the full range of common industrial voltages without a frame-size bump. The 800 A rating holds flat from 40 °C through 60 °C — no derating needed in a warm panel. At 65 °C it steps down to 767 A, and at 70 °C to 703 A. That thermal headroom means you don't have to oversize the frame for a 50 °C switchroom.
Panel fit and communication
Dimensions are 210 mm wide, 320 mm tall, 120 mm deep — a standard MCCB footprint for this current class, so it drops into existing 3VA panel cutouts without rework. The front face carries IP40 protection, adequate for enclosed switchgear. Communication function is built in, meaning the ETU860 can talk to a higher-level system for power monitoring and remote trip indication — no separate add-on module needed for basic data.
