Rating and deployment context
The 3VA2580-5KQ32-0DA0 is a SENTRON 3-pole molded case circuit breaker rated for 800 A continuous current at 40 °C, with a breaking capacity of 187 kA at 240 V, 121 kA at 415 V, and 53 kA at 690 V. That 187 kA figure at 240 V means it can safely interrupt fault currents up to that level without cascading upstream — critical for high-fault-capacity distribution in data center or industrial main switchboards where a bolted fault must clear on the first half-cycle. The ETU860 electronic trip unit provides adjustable long-time (Ir up to 800 A), short-time (tsd 0.05–0.5 s), and instantaneous protection, plus ground-fault summation-current detection on the line conductors. Thermal derating is flat from 40 °C through 60 °C at 800 A, then drops to 767 A at 65 °C and 703 A at 70 °C. In a hot switchroom or a panel adjacent to transformers, that 65 °C derate point is the one that governs real-world continuous load — not the 40 °C nameplate.
Physical fit and panel integration
Dimensions are 320 mm high, 210 mm wide, 120 mm deep. The 210 mm width is the critical dimension for a multi-breaker lineup — it occupies three 70 mm pole spaces in a typical SENTRON mounting plate or DIN-rail adapter system. IP40 on the front face means it's protected against tools and solid objects larger than 1 mm; the enclosure interior must handle the rest. Maximum power dissipation is 135 W at rated current — that heat has to be accounted for in the panel's thermal budget, especially when ganged with other breakers in a closed section.
